The Local Plan Examination Hearings started on Tuesday 8th March 2022 and ended on Tuesday 5th April 2022.

The examination process continues until the Inspector has issued her report. Please continue to visit the Examination webpages for any further updates.
The Council received the report from the independent Planning Inspector on 24 March 2023 including a schedule of recommended Main Modifications. The report is available here (11 MB).
The Inspector has concluded that, subject to these Main Modifications, the Fareham Local Plan 2037 is legally compliant and sound, providing an appropriate basis for the planning of the borough.
The next step in the process is for the Executive to recommend that Council to formally adopt the Plan, incorporating the MMs and AMs, as part of the statutory development plan for the borough. This matter will be considered at the Executive meeting on 3rd April 2023.

The Inspector has been examining the soundness and legal compliance of the Plan, taking into consideration the written representations received throughout the Plan's preparation and further representations through the Examination process to date.
The Inspector has now proposed a list of amendments to the plan, known as main modifications, which are required to make the Plan sound. The Inspector has requested that the proposed main modifications to the Local Plan be consulted on for a period of six weeks in order that interested parties can express their views on these modifications changes. The consultation will run from 31st October 2022 to 12th December 2022 at 11.59pm.

Following the Fareham Local Plan examination hearings, the Inspector sent a Post Hearings letter (199 KB)to the Council on the 6th June 2022.
The Post Hearings letter contained her findings on a range of matters relating to the Local Plan, including landscape, biodiversity net gain and housing supply. At the Inspector's request, the Council have prepared updates to three topic papers on housing supply matters to understand the implications of her findings.
