The Council has established the Welborne Community Forum to engage with representatives of nearby existing communities and residents of the new community regularly on the delivery of the development and any issues and opportunities that emerge as the development becomes a reality.
The Welborne Community Forum helps to raise awareness of the progress of the development within the wider community, build understanding and maintain trust. It also provides an opportunity for key interested parties to have a regular collaborative dialogue, tapping into local knowledge with a focus on generating solutions. It provides a vehicle to:
The Forum is not a vehicle for dispute resolution, nor does it have any executive or decision-making powers with respect to Welborne. It does not prevent residents from raising concerns directly with the Borough and County Councils and the Master Developer and nor does it replace the statutory public consultation processes required for the many planning applications still to be considered for development at Welborne.
The Welborne Community Forum's Terms of Reference can be viewed here (96 KB). Membership of the Forum comprises individuals who represent the interests of Fareham Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, Winchester City Council, Wickham and Knowle Parish Council, local community and residents' organisations and local businesses.
The Committee is chaired by Councillor Simon Martin, the Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council.
Meetings will be held up to four times a year, with the opportunity to have exceptional ad-hoc meetings at key milestones in the development of Welborne at the discretion of the Chair. Meetings are open to the public.
If you have an issue that you would like to be considered by the Forum, please email DemocraticServices@fareham.gov.uk.
The Forum deferred consideration of the Railway Station Business Case until the next meeting.
