Following the approval of the Fareham Town Centre Regeneration Strategy 2025-2035 (7 MB) this page outlines our work to deliver the projects and initiatives outlined in the Strategy.
The key town centre projects we are concentrating on for 2025 include:
Over 50 people from the local business community attended a Business Breakfast at Fareham Borough Council's Civic Offices in March, to discuss and feedback on the Fareham Town Centre Regeneration Strategy (7 MB).
The delegates were asked to discuss and asked to rank in order of importance four main topics:
Ideas were collated on how these ideas could be delivered. Delegates were also asked about their views on effective ways to collaborate with the Council to jointly deliver the projects and initiatives outlined in the Strategy.
Fareham Live car parks opened following the demolition of the underused and outdated Osborn Road multi storey car park. The car parks have larger modern sized spaces with a number of new electric vehicles chargers available. There are now over 1,400 Council operated parking spaces serving the wider town centre, and over 600 within easy walking distance of Fareham Live.

In October 2024, a new evening route was opened up through Fareham Shopping Centre linking West Street with Fareham Live. With many pubs and restaurants on West Street and the High Street, this new walkway provides a quick way for theatre goers to pop into the heart of Fareham for pre- or post-theatre drinks and/or dinner. It also allows visitors to park in Market Quay car park or use Fareham Bus Station and walk easily to Fareham Live.

Fareham Live, the Council's new community, arts and entertainment venue opened in Autumn 2024 and received a royal visit from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

Fareham Housing, the housing department at the Council, confirmed the purchase of 130-136 West Street, which includes the former Foresters Hall, a number of ground floor shops and the Birks of Fareham furniture store. This purchase provides us with an opportunity to provide much needed affordable housing in the town centre.

In September 2023, the Council purchased Fareham Shopping Centre giving us control of a key asset within the town centre.
