We write policies that guide future development in Fareham. The planning documents that we prepare are concerned with provision of housing, jobs, sports and leisure, transport and community facilities, as well as the protection of the environment and considering the impact of climate change.
The Fareham Local Plan consists of two parts and sets out the Planning Strategy for the Borough up to 2037.
The Local Plan sets out the policies and plans to guide future development to 2037. Following its adoption on 5th April 2023, it is used to determine planning applications in the Borough and replaces the Local Plan Part 1: Core Strategy and Local Plan Part 2: Development Sites and Policies.
The Welborne Plan is a planning document which sets out how the broad type, location, amount and character of the development at Welborne and will guide the Council in our decision-making on future planning applications for the site.
The Welborne Plan was adopted on 8th June 2015, the Local Plan Part 3: The Welborne Plan forms part of the adopted development plan alongside the Local Plan 2037. Part 1 and 2 of the Local Plan were replaced by the Local Plan 2037 (see section above).
