Phase one of the Fareham Park vision gets underway with works beginning to develop the new play and recreational facilities on the open space next to Henry Cort Drive
The exciting new design will include a play area, multi-use social area, gym equipment, running track and outdoor fitness trail.
This phase will be completed by March 2025
This is the first step in the programme to transform the existing Fareham north-west community and leisure facilities.
The exciting new design will replace the current play area adjacent to Fareham North West community centre and has been influenced by many suggestions and comments collated throughout a comprehensive consultation that included public meetings, consultation surveys and the 'Let's Talk Fareham Park' Facebook page.
The new play area will be the first in the borough to include a wheelchair accessible seesaw and will include features to attract users of all ages and abilities.

Our architects were busy designing, and we reached an exciting stage of the project. We asked for your help to choose from one of two proposals for the layout of the facilities which will include a replacement pétanque terrain.
Option A - provides additional parking spaces for use by the new community centre but this means the pétanque terrain and floodlighting is closer to residential properties.
Option B - fewer parking spaces close to the community centre but means the pétanque terrain, and associated floodlighting, is shielded from residents by the new community centre
Residents were invited to have their say on the proposed layouts in an online survey and on the Let's Talk Fareham Facebook group
Option B was chosen as the preferred layout option
We have listened to your views on what the new play area should include and have ensured our preferred play area design reflects your feedback.
The contract of works is currently out to tender.
Watch this space for further updates, including the unveiling of the new play area design!
