Fareham residents receive Citizen of Honour Awards

Three residents of the Borough have been presented with the Council’s Citizen and Young Citizen of Honour 2024 awards.

The winners were handed their awards by the Mayor of Fareham, Cllr Pal Hayre, at a special presentation in the Mayor’s Parlour on 9 October. In addition, they each received a family ticket to a show of their choice at Fareham Live.

Those honoured this year are:

Trevor Conduit - Citizen of Honour

Trevor has been volunteering with Sophie’s Legacy since June 2022. He is the first to offer his help with any activity for the charity and it would not be uncommon to see Trevor helping four to five days a week, every week. Trevor is what one would want in a volunteer; he is reliable, dedicated, and a huge advocate for the charity. He gives so much back to the community and the charity would be lost without him.

Peter Humphreys - Citizen of Honour

Peter gives a huge amount of time to a number of community organisations within Fareham and exemplifies what selfless voluntary commitment represents. He has been Treasurer and Activist for the Friends of the Fareham Community Hospital and recently initiated the launch of a voluntary car service, which transports patients to their appointments at the Hospital. Peter has also been involved with Sarisbury Green Community Centre, Fareham Music Festival and Solent Sounds Chorus.
Peter has and continues to be, a real stalwart of the Fareham Community.

Lewis Ferriroli – Young Citizen of Honour

Lewis was the first responder who attended a medical emergency in the gym when a 15 year old boy suffered a cardiac arrest at Holly Hill Leisure Centre. Lewis put the casualty first and delivered life-saving CPR. His quick thinking and decisive actions saved the life of this casualty. The delivery of the defibrillator and correct use was a contributing factor towards such a positive outcome, in a very traumatic situation.  Saving a life is a massive reward in itself and one that Lewis will live with for the rest of his.

The Mayor of Fareham, Cllr Pal Hayre, said:

“It was a pleasure to present these inspirational members of Fareham’s community with their Citizen and Young Citizen of Honour awards. I was truly moved by their incredible stories, and hope that they encourage others to make a positive impact in the Borough.”

Citizen and Young Citizen of Honour 2025 awards will be open for nominations in November 2024.
