Planning application approved for Welborne Village Centre

Fareham Borough Council’s Planning Committee has approved the planning application for the Village Centre at Welborne Garden Village.

The application was submitted by Buckland Development Limited to create a Village Centre at Welborne, immediately alongside an area where housebuilding is currently underway.

The application comprises a Village Centre with multiple uses to meet the day to day needs of the future residents of Welborne. The uses include a public house, village hall, retail units, a cafe and a restaurant along with space for a doctors’ surgery. The Village Centre will also include a further 71 residential dwellings including houses, apartments, and 14 affordable homes.

Planning Chairman at Fareham Borough Council, Councillor David Foot, said: “It is fantastic that the development is progressing at pace at Welborne and that the day to day needs of future residents are to be met at the earliest opportunity. The Village Centre is of a very high-quality design and the Planning Committee recognised the considerable efforts of the landowner, their development team and the Council’s Officers in ensuring that this is the case. I look forward to seeing the Village Centre being delivered in the near future as an important part of what will make the Welborne Garden Village a great place to live and work.”
