Let’s Talk Anti-Social Behaviour in Fareham

Fareham Borough Council has today launched a public consultation to give residents the opportunity to have their say on a new Draft Anti-Social Behaviour Policy.

The Council takes dealing with anti-social behaviour very seriously and aims to tackle reports promptly and before it escalates. This draft policy outlines new processes and procedures for dealing with anti-social behaviour in the Borough.

A large number of complaints can be dealt with easily by working in partnership and offering a supportive approach. There are also times when enforcement measures need to be taken. The draft policy sets out a formal approach to anti-social behaviour so that everyone is aware of their roles, responsibilities, expectations and timelines once anti-social behaviour is reported.

The consultation will run until Monday 19 August. Its purpose is to understand the views of residents concerning the Council’s proposals on how it deals with anti-social behaviour, so that a policy that is fair and reasonable can be adopted. Residents can have their say by taking part in a short survey here:

Executive Member for Health and Public Protection at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Joanne Burton, said: “The Council plays an active role in reducing crime and disorder in the local area. This draft policy looks to formalise the process we need to take once anti-social behaviour has been reported, so that we are able to tackle it quickly and effectively. I encourage residents to take the time to review the document to ensure that they have their say on our proposed approach moving forward.”
