Fareham’s Golden Christmas Trail

Fareham Borough Council is delighted to announce that a Golden Christmas Trail will be launched at the Christmas Lights Switch-on event on Saturday 18 November.

Thousands of visitors are expected at the free, family-friendly Christmas Lights Switch-on event taking place on the pedestrianised area of West Street on Saturday 18 November. With festive gift, food and drink stalls, funfair rides and lots of activities for children, there is something for all the family to enjoy. Throughout the day, performances will be taking place on the stage and street performers will be entertaining the crowds, before the lights are switched on at 5.30pm during the show finale.

Fareham’s Golden Christmas Trail will be launched that day, where families can be in with a chance of winning fabulous prizes by picking up trail sheets from Vito Lounge or Waterstones and following the golden trail around Fareham’s festive town centre to find signs with a letter at each location. Once all of the signs have been found, the letters can be unscrambled to complete a phrase. The prizes available are:

£30 Vito Lounge voucher, donated by Vito Lounge
Made by Me pottery painting voucher, donated by Made by Me
Sweet Peas Play Cafe entry for a child and adult plus a drink, donated by Sweet Peas Play Café
Chocolate hamper, donated by Krews Kandy

Completed trail sheets can be returned to Vito Lounge or Waterstones, or a photo of them can be sent to leisure@fareham.gov.uk. The competition will run until Saturday 16 December, and winners will be contacted in January 2024.

While the trail is a great activity for families to take part in, it is also intended to encourage shoppers into Fareham and help raise awareness of the businesses in the town centre, particularly the independent traders in both West Street and High Street.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Sue Walker, said:

“Fareham’s Christmas Lights Switch-on is one of the most exciting events of the year and this year it promises to be the biggest spectacle yet. With Christmas stalls, children’s activities and fantastic entertainment, I encourage residents to come along to enjoy a day to remember. I am delighted that families will have the opportunity to win some brilliant prizes with the launch of the Golden Trail competition as part of the festivities on the day.”
