Press Release

20 April 2023

Popular events return to Fareham this year

Fareham Borough Council is delighted to announce its programme of events taking place throughout the year, with activities for both adults and children of all ages across the Borough.

Events begin in May, with the Council welcoming Funyard Event's Artisan Market to the pedestrianised area of West Street on 13 May, with further dates arranged for 12 August and 14 October. Craft and food stalls full of local and seasonal goods will line up for a day of shopping from small local handcrafted brands, artists and street food.

Saturday 24 June sees the return of the ever-popular 999 Day - a free, fun-filled day where residents can meet emergency service heroes along with their vehicles. Police, Fire service, RNLI, Hampshire Search and Rescue, Coastguard and much more will be in attendance in West Street, along with free arts and crafts provided by Creation Station.

The beautiful Westbury Manor Museum gardens will be hosting Thumbs Up Thursday once again during August, where free activities will be offered for children under 11 years. Remember that children must be accompanied by an adult, and there is no need to book - just drop in on the day. Sessions run from 3 August until 24 August.

For those that enjoy woodland themed activities, Play Day is back on 9 August at Holly Hill Woodland Park, where families are encouraged to bring a picnic while enjoying a day in the woods. Tickets must be bought in advance, and these will be available soon.

Our Access All Areas scheme begins its 2023 programme in August, with a variety of exciting activities suitable for older children. Parents or guardians can order passes online and register young people aged 11 to 16 years for up to three activities for a one-off fee of £10.

And last, but by no means least, after the unavoidable cancellation of the event last year, residents will be delighted by the return of Bygone Fareham on 9 September in West Street. Visitors will be able to admire classic vehicles at this free event and there will also be vintage style singing and dancing to entertain the crowds.

As usual the year will be rounded off with the spectacular Christmas Lights switch on which will take place on 18 November. Thousands of residents turned out last year for fun fair rides, festive gift stalls, delicious food and drink and all-day activities in West Street. More details about the event will be available later in the year.

Information about these and other events and activities happening in the Borough can be found on the Council’s events page: https://www.fareham.gov.uk/events
