Competition Time for Warmer Homes

Fareham Borough Council is launching a special ‘snug as a bug in a rug’ social media competition today, to encourage Fareham residents to check if they are eligible for free home improvements to make their homes more energy efficient, as part of its Warmer Homes programme.

The Council is giving residents the chance to win one of two soft and cosy blankets, as well as a grand prize of a luxury hot chocolate hamper. All residents need to do is head to the Fareham Borough Council Facebook page, ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ the competition post and submit a photo of you, your family or your pets being ‘snug as a bug in a rug’ before the 30 November 2022.

This competition is being launched in conjunction with the Warmer Homes programme, which is offering fully funded energy-efficiency improvements for eligible homes.

Funding is available until March 2023, for energy efficiency measures such as a range of improved insulations, air source heat pumps and solar PV panels and residents may qualify for the funding if they meet the following criteria:

• Your home has an EPC rating of E, F or G (limited funding is also available for EPC D rated properties).

And either:

• You have a total household annual income of £30,000 or less (before housing costs/bills)

Or:

• You receive a means-tested benefit.

Executive Member for Planning and Development Cllr Simon Martin said: “It’s not often that the Council gets to run a competition of this sort, but we have special funding as part of this fantastic Warmer Homes programme. Warmer Homes can help Fareham residents not only get free energy efficiency improvements on their homes, but the improvements can make a significant and lasting impact on energy bills going forward. I encourage residents to enter the competition, but also to see if they are eligible for the funding today!”
