South and South East In Bloom

Fareham scoop top gardening awards

Fareham Borough Council is pleased to announce that it has been awarded multiple awards in this year’s South and South East in Bloom awards.

The Borough’s parks and gardens were given the following top awards:

Portchester Crematorium – Gold
Portchester Memorial Gardens – Gold
The Civic Gardens, Fareham – Gold
Westbury Manor Museum Gardens - Gold
The Sensory Garden of Reflection, Fareham – Gold

There was also success for the Borough’s open spaces:

Warsash Common Local Nature Reserve – Gold
Portchester Common – Gold
Coldeast Conservation Area – Gold and ‘Small Conservation Area’ category winner

Britain in Bloom 'It's Your Neighbourhood Awards' have been given to Red Barn Allotments and The Burnham Wood, with both receiving a Level 4 - Thriving award. Roman Grove Allotments also received the highest award of Outstanding.

Executive Member for Streetscene at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Ian Bastable, said: “This is another huge achievement for all those who work so hard to keep the Borough looking amazing. Each year has its own challenges, and this year has been no exception, with the hottest and driest summer on record. I am delighted to see that Roman Grove Allotments have been included in this year’s awards as the Britain in Bloom awards demonstrate real horticultural excellence. Well done to the communities, volunteers and the Council’s grounds maintenance teams for making our gardens and open spaces so beautiful and bringing so much pleasure to local residents.”
