Council to reopen public toilets

Fareham Borough Council is making arrangements for the phased reopening of its public toilets.

This follows changes to the Government’s lockdown rules, which now allow people to take unlimited exercise outdoors.

The first phase to be reopened will be those which serve large areas of open space in the Borough. From Saturday (16 May), public toilets in the following locations will be open:

The second phase of toilets to reopen will be those which mainly serve shopping areas and district centres. The Council is planning to reopen the following on June 1:

The second phase of reopening will only go ahead if the Government’s plan to reopen non-essential shops at this time is implemented.

Executive Member for Streetscene at Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Simon Martin, said:

“It’s important as lockdown restrictions are eased that we have these facilities available again as we expect people to be spending more time out and about. We will be displaying posters at all our public toilets advising residents about social distancing when they use them and reminding them about hand hygiene. All of our public toilets will be cleaned daily.”
