Press Release

6 June 2019

Public meeting to discuss drug misuse

A public meeting is being held to talk about drug misuse in Fareham town centre after listening to residents and businesses.

The special Community Action Team (CAT) meeting will be held in the Octagon Room at Ferneham Hall on Wednesday 12 June from 6pm – 7.30pm.

Residents and businesses will be able to raise concerns and ask questions at the meeting and hear how the Council, Police and other agencies are working together to reduce crime and other anti-social behaviour associated with drug use.

Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward, will speak at the meeting as well Inspector Sarah Nicholson and a representative from Inclusion Hampshire. Both are vital partners in Fareham’s Community Safety Partnership, working to reduce crimes associated with drugs and alcohol.

The meeting will be a chance to discuss how everyone can work together to keep Fareham town centre a safe place to live, visit and trade.

Cllr Woodward said: “Following a number of residents and local businesses contacting me about their concerns about drug abuse and anti-social behaviour, we have arranged this community meeting to talk about the issue.

“If you feel strongly about this issue or are affected by it, please come along to the meeting. We need to all work together to keep our Borough a safe place to live.”
