Information for Potential Hosts

Homes for Ukraine is a scheme set up by the Government that links British residents wishing to offer accomodation to Ukrainians fleeing the war.

What is expected from a host?

To become a host under the Homes for Ukraine scheme you will need to be able to provide at least 6 months accomodation. This could be anything from a single room with access to shared bathroom and kitchen facillities to an unoccupied house. It does need to be safe, free from health hazards, have adequate heating and ventilation and give good access to bathroom and kitchen facillities. As a host you will also need to support your guests to fill in forms and register for services whilst giving them privacy and independence.

Next steps

Thank-you payment

Once all safeguarding checks have taken place including the confirmation visit when the guest has arrived in your home, you are eligible for a thank you payment of £500 per month, irrespective of how many people you have staying with you. This will be paid directly into your bank account. Payment will be made monthly in arrears for as long as the guest remains in the accommodation for a maximum of 24 months.
