The Local Government Boundary Commission is consulting on a new pattern of wards being developed for Fareham Borough Council.
It is proposed that the number of councillors in Fareham should increase from 31 to 32 and the Commission wants to hear what residents and organisations think about their local area. It wants to be sure that its proposals reflect community ties and identities.
The Commission is interested in views on which communities should be part of the same ward. For example, what facilities do people share, what issues do neighbouring communities face, have there been new housing developments that have changed the focus of communities?

A 10-week consultation on new warding arrangements ran until 4 April 2022, but this has now been extended until 11 July 2022 to ensure that The Commission hears what residents and organisations think about what the new warding arrangements should be.
Comments were submitted directly to the Local Government Boundary Commission. These can be viewed on the further information link above.
During 25 January and the 11 July 2022, the commission carried out an initial public consultation on communities.
The Fareham (Electoral Changes) Order 2023 was made on 14 July 2023.
The new arrangements will be in place for elections held after May 2024.
