If your organisation, venue or event, whatever its nature, has capacity to bring together 100 (or more) members of the public, this upcoming piece of legislation will apply to you. Martyn's Law will improve protective security and organisational readiness across the UK by mandating, for the first time, those responsible for certain premises and events to consider the terrorist risk and how they would respond to an attack.
Council offices, sports grounds and leisure centres, colleges and universities, cafes and restaurants, community centres, pubs and nightclubs, garden centres, festivals, fund-raising events, family fun days, village fayres, hospitals and health centres, sporting and fitness events, retailers and shopping centres, are just some examples that need to pay attention.
Fareham Borough Council has teamed up with The Protect Alliance (UK), a not-for-profit organisation devoted to Martyn's Law, to stay up to date with the latest information on how the legislation is progressing and provide resources to support affected organisations in Fareham every step of the way. This webpage will be updated as the legislation is brought forward and passed in to law. You can also click here to visit The Protect Alliance (UK) website .
To launch this innovative, new collaboration, you will find the PROTECT ZONE at Fareham Business Expo (Fareham Leisure Centre) on Thursday 22 February 2024. PROTECT ZONE is a combination of exhibitors dedicated to Martyn's Law preparations, a specialist speaker, and other panels and meetings throughout the day. This gathering of Martyn's Law experts will be happy to chat through what it could mean for your business and help get you on the road to readiness. PROTECT ZONE exhibitors include Cybata, Forseti Training, Penarth Management, SCG Together, The Protect Alliance UK and Crowdguard. This will be the perfect entry point if you are just embarking on your journey to explore what Martyn's Law will mean to your organisation, and what you can do to prepare.
