Small businesses celebrate with Fareham Start-Up Launchpad

Local business owners celebrated their completion of a year of successful mentoring support with the Fareham Start-Up Launchpad programme, delivered by Solent Partners in partnership with Fareham Borough Council. The programme delivered 12 months' free business support and mentoring which was tailored to the individual business goals of eight local businesses.  A graduation event was held earlier this year at Fareham Innovation Centre, where the graduates celebrated with The Mayor of Fareham, members of Fareham Borough Council's economic development team, and representatives from Solent Partners. Click here to read the full story. External Hyperlink

Apprenticeship Levy transfer - what does it mean?

In May 2017, the Government introduced the Apprenticeship Levy as part of its reforms to work-based and technical education. This obliges all employers (in England) who have an annual salary bill of £3m or more to commit 0.5% of that amount to Apprenticeship training. From April 2024, government introduced the facility for employers to transfer up to 50% of the annual Apprenticeship Levy to other employers. The levy transfer gives employers the opportunity to support each other by utilising unspent levy funding. Large businesses can pledge unspent apprenticeship levy funds which will then be used to support other businesses with the costs of apprenticeship training. Carol Greaves is the Skills and Employment advisor for Fareham and is keen to support as many local businesses as possible to understand and use the levy available to them. Click here to email Carol and she will help you identify how and why she can help you and your business.
