Solent Enterprise Zone at Daedalus Showcase
Taking place 24-28 February 2025, Portsmouth and South Coast Business Week is a week-long festival of free activities to support and champion the region's economy - designed by business for business. The week has a different focus each day and Wednesday 26 February is 'Open Doors Day'. Businesses invite other professionals in to look behind the scenes and Fareham and Gosport Borough Councils are working together to open the doors to Solent Enterprise Zone at Daedalus (DSEZ).
Businesses based on DSEZ are invited to attend a session where different presentations from Fareham Innovation Centre, Daedalus Waterfront and Fareham Borough Council will provide updates and plans for the site. There will also be testimonials from both airside and non-airside businesses, as well as from businesses based at Fareham Innovation Centre. While the session is predominantly targeted at DSEZ based businesses, the event is open for all to attend - it is 'Open Doors Day' after all!

Solent Mitigation Partnership has Launched!
This collaborative initiative, involving 15 local authorities in the Solent region, aims to unlock housing development by offering nutrient mitigation to developers. Nutrient Neutrality guidelines have impeded housing developments due to the requirement for projects to be nutrient neutral. The Solent Mitigation Partnership provides a solution by offering nutrient credits for developers. These credits allow developers to offset the nutrient load of their projects, ensuring compliance with neutrality guidelines. The Solent is home to some of the UK's most protected habitats and it is essential to safeguard these ecosystems while promoting sustainable development.

Your Business Waste Responsibilities are Changing
Did you know that the Government has introduced new legal requirements for businesses to separate recyclable and general waste? Known as Simpler Recycling, businesses with 10 or more full-time employees have until 31 March 2025 to arrange for the storage and collection of the following, alongside your refuse bin: dry mixed recycling; glass; metal; plastic; paper; cardboard; and food. Businesses with less than 10 full-time employees have until 31 March 2027 to make these changes. Fareham Borough Council can help businesses to easily make these changes through our experienced, friendly, locally-based, commercial waste and recycling collection service, WasteSavers.
