The Warsash Local History Society was formed in 1998 with the aim to research and promote interest in all aspects of the history of Warsash and the surrounding area. Since then, the Society has built a comprehensive archive of photographs, maps, documents and artefacts, kindly donated or made available by local people and organisations. During the late May Bank Holiday weekend, we will be holding an Exhibition where many of these items will be on display.
There will also be an opportunity to learn about the events that took place in Warsash in preparation for the D-Day Landings, which is of particular interest now as we approach the 80th Anniversary of this significant wartime operation.
We are always seeking new information to add to our archives so, if you have any interesting memories or anecdotes relating to the area, do come along and share them with one of our members who would be delighted to chat with you.
We will have a small range of merchandise for sale including bags, tea towels, newsletters and books written by local people. And don’t forget to buy a Tombola ticket – there will be a range of prizes for a few lucky winners!
