Press Release

21 July 2017

Woodland wonderland opens to the public

A new destination play area at Holly Hill Leisure Centre opened today (Friday 21 July).

Pupils from Park Gate Primary School and Sarisbury Infant and Junior Schools helped to shape the design and told us what equipment they would like to see.

The play area which has a natural woodland feel offers a variety of play equipment for all ages.  The children's play area includes a climbing unit, zip wire, inclusive swing and much more.  There's also a multi-use games area (MUGA) that can be used all year round and outdoor gym equipment for adults.

The brand new facility at Holly Hill was unveiled by The Deputy Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Christopher Wood, he said: "This play area is a fantastic addition to the Borough.  I would like to thank the students of Fareham College, CEMAST, Park Gate Primary School and Sarisbury Infant and Junior Schools for getting involved in the design of the play area and the design and build of the capsules. I look forward to seeing what hidden treasures will be found in 25 years' time."

To commemorate the opening of this destination park three time capsules have been buried at the site.  These were designed and built by students at Fareham College and CEMAST and filled with interesting objects by Park Gate Primary School and Sarisbury Infant and Junior Schools.  We'll be discovering what's in them in 25 years' time!
