Press Release

10 September 2018

Help design Abbey Meadows play area

A brand-new play area is being built in Titchfield and Fareham Borough Council is asking residents, particularly its younger ones, to help with the design using an online game.

This innovative consultation is a fun way for children and their families to tell the Council what their dream play area would look like, as well as leave ideas and suggestions.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Sue Bell, said: "Abbey Meadows will include 15 hectares of open space and feature a brand new natural style play area to complement its surroundings. I think it would make it really special for the children who will be using the park to tell us what they would like to see there.  Not only will they get the benefit, they will help us build a play area that will be enjoyed by children of all ages and abilities for years to come."

Children from both local and special schools will be invited to share their ideas to ensure that inclusive equipment can be incorporated into the play area design.

Abbey Meadows was named earlier in the year following a consultation with residents. It will also include footpaths, wildflower meadows, an orchard and wildlife areas. The new play area will be located along the A27 on Southampton Road and is set to open next year.

The deadline for responses is Monday 8 October.
