The official opening of Fareham Borough Council's new sheltered housing scheme, Sylvan Court, took place yesterday on Thursday 17 August 2017.
The Mayor of Fareham, Cllr Geoff Fazackarley, officially opened the building, first unveiling a plaque to mark the occasion, then cutting the first slice of a celebratory cake.
The £4.8m building in Sarisbury Green provides 36 flats for people aged 60 and over. Residents enjoy facilities such as a communal lounge area, mobility and bike store, hairdressing room and landscaped gardens. Other facilities include parking, laundry room, CCTV and secure door entry system.
Cllr Kay Mandry Executive Member for Housing said: "I'm delighted this fantastic project has been completed. Sylvan Court is the second sheltered housing scheme we have recently built in Fareham. It offers first class accommodation for our older residents and I am sure it will make a lovely home for those who move in."
