Press Release

11 December 2017

Five new hangars at Solent Airport at Daedalus

Construction of five new hangars has been completed at Solent Airport, the latest step in a £50m masterplan to transform the site into a business airport.

The new hangars, which are each 6,350 sq ft in size, are available for general aviation use. Three of them are already under offer.

Six more hangars (each 6,450 sq ft in size) are expected to be completed early 2018 and will be available for businesses in the aviation, aerospace and marine sectors.

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward, said:

"This is another fantastic milestone in the development of Solent Airport and I'm pleased to see interest in these new hangars, and the further six planned for next year, is already very high. This project is part of the Council's vision for the site which will see it become the premier location for aviation, aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing businesses in the south. We anticipate the transformation of Solent Airport will create 3,500 new local jobs over the next ten years."

The new hangars all lie within the Solent Enterprise Zone giving significant benefits to new occupiers, such as substantial business rate relief.
