Youth clubs to continue thanks to Council funding

A range of activities and support for young people in Fareham will continue for another year thanks to nearly £30,000 in Council funding.

Seven youth projects in the Borough will share the funding from Fareham Borough Council's Youth Activities Fund.

The youth groups that will benefit from the funding are:

Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Sue Bell, said: "Fareham Borough Council is committed to maintaining a wide range of free activities and facilities for young people to enjoy and it's great to see these youth services protected for another year. These groups offer a space for young people to meet in a safe and relaxed environment, where they can get valuable support from youth workers."

Notes to editors:

The Youth Activities Fund was established in April 2016 following Hampshire County Council's announcement that they would be significantly reducing funding for open access youth services in Fareham.

Part of the youth provision that the Council provides include Y-CAT meetings which are held throughout the year to engage with young people and encourage them to share their ideas, views and concerns about their local community. The Council also runs a range of free activities and exciting opportunities throughout summer holidays for young people including Access All Areas and Thumbs up Thursdays.
