Calculation of a Band D charge

How your bill is made up

You pay all of your Council Tax to Fareham Borough Council, but only 10% of it pays for the services we provide. The rest pays for the services provided by Hampshire County Council,  Hampshire Fire & Rescue and the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner.  The Council Tax attributable to Hampshire County Council includes a precept to fund adult social care.  This precept is listed separately on the Council Tax bill.

As a billing authority, Fareham Borough Council strives to collect as much Council Tax as possible. The latest available figures (2022/23) show that Fareham collected 98.3% of all Council Tax. This compares very well to the national average collection rate of 95.8% and as such we remain one of the best performing authorities in Hampshire, and also nationally.
