Fareham residents can apply for free upgrades, to make their homes more energy efficient.

A group of 23 local authorities, led by Portsmouth City Council, successfully bid for significant funding from the government to help lower income households improve their homes' energy efficiency.

The Warmer Homes programme offers a range of fully-funded improvements for eligible residents including:

How much funding can I receive?

Eligible households can receive home energy improvements worth up to £38,000 to make their homes more efficient. For example, solar panels usually cost £6,000 to install, but you won't have to pay anything for them through this funding, and they can save you over £500 per year. Solid wall insulation, which can cost up to £10,000, can also be installed for free and save you up to £500 a year. Air source heat pumps, which are worth £14,000, can be installed for free and save you up to £1,000 a year. By taking part in this programme, you get these installations at no cost, and they will help you save money on your energy bills.

Funding availability through the programme is subject to eligibility, technical feasibility and your home's EPC rating. You may qualify for the funding if the following statements apply:

How can I apply?

This funding is offered on a first-come-first-served basis. Applications will take no longer than 5 minutes.

What happens next?

  1. Once we receive your eligibility verification documents, we will check your eligibility and if successful, you will be assigned to an appropriate installer.
  2. Your installer will then be in touch to arrange your technical survey and EPC (if required).
  3. Following your survey, you will receive a 'Quote Pack' from your installer which will include a no-cost quote and details of the proposed work. The no-cost quote provides confirmation that the measure(s) are fully funded. If you live in a private rental property, the landlord will be provided with a quote which will detail the landlord contribution required.
  4. The Warmer Homes team will assess the information provided by the installer.
  5. If approved, the installer will be in touch to arrange your installation date. Your installation date will depend on your installer's availability.
  6. Once your measure(s) have been installed, your installer will provide you with a 'Handover Pack' which will include your warranty information and any other relevant paperwork. 
  7. The Warmer Homes team will be in touch following your installation to ensure you are happy with the service provided.
