Press Release

5 September 2023

Let’s Talk Fareham!

Fareham Borough Council is trialling a new way of consulting with residents about local matters by setting up a new Facebook group.

The dedicated Facebook consultation group is called ‘Let’s Talk Fareham’, where Fareham residents can comment and interact with posts relating to open consultations taking place in the Borough. This will provide the Council with an additional method for gathering feedback alongside the existing online consultation surveys and emails.

The first consultation to take place using the Let’s Talk Fareham group launches today and concerns proposed changes to the Crossfell Walk play area, Bishopsfield Road. This project has received up to £100,000 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Residents are invited to give their views on what new equipment could be installed and how the existing play area could be improved, as well as possible additions to the wider recreational offering such as outdoor gym equipment, bike racks or a trim trail.

The consultation will close on 3 October 2023 and residents can have their say by joining the ‘Let’s Talk Fareham’ Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/867378331572329.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Sue Walker, said:

“I would encourage residents to join our new ‘Let’s Talk Fareham’ Facebook group, if possible, and have their say on consultations that are important to them, beginning with the Crossfell Walk play area improvements. Our play areas are important for the health and wellbeing of local children, and we would like to hear your suggestions on how this area continues to provide for children now and in the future.”

Details of the proposals and other ways to provide feedback can be found on our website: www.fareham.gov.uk/consultations.
