Westbury Manor Museum to be lit blue for Ukraine War Anniversary

Fareham Borough Council will be marking the one-year anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine by working with Hampshire Cultural Trust to light Westbury Manor Museum in blue on Friday 24 February.

Councillors at Fareham Borough Council have asked for Westbury Manor Museum, on West Street, to be lit blue to express solidarity with the Ukrainian people one year after the Russian invasion. Council staff will also be observing the national one-minute silence at 11am and local residents are encouraged to take part.

The Fareham and Gosport Homes for Ukraine group will also be holding an anniversary event on Saturday 25 February from 5:15pm at the Podium in the pedestrianised area of Fareham West Street. There will be music and the chance for residents to connect with the lighting of candles.

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward, said: “I am deeply saddened that we are now marking the one-year anniversary of Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine. We offer this small gesture of solidarity with the people of Ukraine as we reflect on the last year, and I encourage residents to join us in a one-minute silence.”
