Press Release

29 June 2021

Council plans week of public events as part of Local Plan consultation

Fareham Borough Council is planning a week of public events as part of its consultation on the next step towards a new Local Plan – the Revised Publication Plan.

Provided the Government follows its current timetable of lifting all COVID-19 restrictions on 19 July, five events, comprising an exhibition where members of the Council’s Planning team will be on hand to answer questions, followed by a Community Action Team (CAT) meeting, will take place from 20 – 26 July.

Exhibitions will run from 3-5:30pm and up to 15 members of the public can attend at any one time for up to 30 minutes.

CAT meetings will take place from 6 – 7:30pm and include a presentation by the Council of its Revised Publication Plan.

Anyone wishing to attend an exhibition, CAT meeting, or both, will need to register to attend, either via the Council’s website http://www.fareham.gov.uk/have_your_say/catmeetingsandexhibitionevents.aspx or by calling 01329 236100.

The Council’s consultation on the Revised Publication Local Plan commenced on 18 June 2021 and runs until 30 July 2021.

Initially, a series of exhibitions and CAT meetings were planned from the beginning of July.  However, as the Government changed its timetable for ending restrictions, the Council has moved all events to ensure the safety of all those attending.

Cllr Seán Woodward, Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: “I am delighted that it seems we are currently in a position to be able to have public meetings.

“We have been on quite a journey with the new Local Plan because of the many changes that have been made at Government level.  The focus of the Revised Publication Plan is on the changes that have been made to the document consulted on in 2020.  The documents have tracked changes, so it is easy to spot where any changes have been made.

“With the last CAT meeting not taking place until 26 July, and the consultation closing just a few days later, I would encourage anyone interested in the Revised Publication Plan to visit our online Exhibition so they can come to the meetings with their questions ready.”

A special edition of the Council’s magazine, Fareham Today, will be delivered to houses across the Borough by 2 July and contains further information about the Council’s Revised Publication Plan.

This publication, together with the Virtual Exhibition and supporting evidence for the Revised Publication Plan, is available from the Council’s website: https://www.fareham.gov.uk/have_your_say/consultation/localplanreg19
