Flying the flag for Armed Forces Day

The Armed Forces Flag has once again been raised outside the Civic Offices in Fareham, to mark this year’s Armed Forces Day on Saturday 26 June

The Armed Forces were represented by Captain Catherine Jordan, Commanding Officer HMS Collingwood, and raising the flag was Leading Physical Trainer Martyn Tomkinson also from HMS Collingwood.

The ceremony was attended by The Mayor of Fareham, Cllr Pamela Bryant; the Mayoress, Cllr Louise Clubley; the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Michael Ford; the Deputy Mayoress, Anne Ford; and the Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward.

Cllr Pamela Bryant said: "Fareham is steeped in military history so raising our Armed Forces flag is always an honour.

“Recent times have shown the fantastic contribution made by our dedicated Armed Forces who are continuing to play a key role in the national response to Covid-19. By flying this flag we are showing our appreciation for everything they have done and continue to do.”
