Council mourns loss of long-serving councillor

It is with great sadness that Fareham Borough Council confirms Councillor Keith Evans, who served as a councillor for more than three decades, passed away on Sunday 27th December.

Cllr Evans was well-known to many as a ward councillor for Locks Heath and previously for Sarisbury.  He was also a widely respected member of the Council’s Executive, with responsibility for the Planning and Development portfolio, a role he took very seriously with meticulous attention to detail.  Cllr Evans had also served as a County Councillor since 2005.

The flag outside the Civic Offices in Fareham was being flown at half-mast  until sunset on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th December, as a mark of respect.  It will also be flown at half-mast on the day of Cllr Evans’s funeral, the date of which is yet to be confirmed.

Cllr Seán Woodward, Leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: ‘I am extremely saddened by this news and will miss Keith terribly.  We have worked together for the past three decades and he has been a valued member of the Executive and indeed a personal friend.  My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and children at this very difficult time.’
