Entries open for Community Gardening Challenge

Green fingered residents are being urged to show off their gardening skills by taking part in the Community Gardening Challenge as part of Fareham In Bloom.

The free competition gives residents, businesses and allotment holders the chance to show off their gardening skills, with 21 categories, ranging from hanging baskets to school grounds.

All entrants are marked using a point system and can achieve Gold, Silver Gilt, Silver or Bronze accreditation in line with the Royal Horticultural Society.

The closing date for entries is 9 June and entries are judged in July. An awards presentation evening will be held later in the year at Ferneham Hall.

Nominations can be made with an online booking form, by calling Fareham Borough Council on 01329 236100 or emailing parks@fareham.gov.uk.

Executive Member for Streetscene, Cllr Simon Martin, said: “This is a fantastic way for the people of Fareham to work together to make the Borough look amazing.

“We would love as many residents as possible to get involved and get Fareham blooming.”

More information and a full list of categories and judging criteria can be found on the Fareham in Bloom page at www.fareham.gov.uk.
