Poll cards to be delivered soon

Poll cards will soon be dropping through letterboxes in time for you to cast your vote in the European Parliamentary Elections.

No local elections are being held in the Fareham Borough, but residents will have the chance to vote in the European Parliamentary Elections on Thursday 23 May.

Poll cards will be sent out by early May and you can still register to vote until Tuesday 7 May by following this link https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Residents can also apply for a new or change an existing postal vote until 5pm on Wednesday 8 May.

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm for votes to be cast on Thursday 23 May but will not be counted until Sunday 26 May – at the same time as the rest of Europe – so the results can be declared at the same time.

The European Parliament is directly elected by EU voters and Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are elected every five years.

The elections are taking place as Brexit has been delayed until the end of October and will go ahead unless a deal is agreed by Parliament before the election day.
