Fareham Live goes green!

Fareham Borough Council has announced some of the ways in which Fareham Live will be reducing its carbon footprint to become a ‘green’ venue for the future.

Fareham Live has always been designed to be fully compliant with Building Regulations in relation to the conservation of fuel and power. The Council has, however, gone above and beyond by not only installing 18 photo voltaic (solar) panels on the roof of the Flytower, but also installing four Air Source Heat Pumps to provide the heating and ventilation.

In addition, the building fabric has been upgraded to improve the insulation and reducing the demand for heating and cooling.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Sue Walker, said: “I think it is really important that Fareham Live will not only be offering high quality entertainment, but will also be doing so while offsetting its carbon footprint as much as possible. The Council is committed to becoming carbon neutral across all its buildings and services by 2030 and Fareham Live will be contributing to this ambition by introducing these zero carbon technologies.”
