Local Boundary Commission publish final recommendations for Fareham

The Local Government Boundary Commission has published its final recommendations for new electoral arrangements for Fareham Borough Council.

The Commission is the independent body that draws up boundaries in each electoral area to ensure that councils are able to work effectively. Following several rounds of consultation, it has recommended a new pattern of wards for Fareham so that each councillor represents around the same number of electors. It also aims to ensure that the pattern of wards reflect community ties and identities and promotes effective local government.

Cllr Seán Woodward, Leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: “Fareham Borough Council welcomes the outcome of this review and is very pleased to note that the Local Government Boundary Commission has based its conclusions largely on the Council’s proposals which were submitted during the consultation phases of the work. We will now work on plans to implement the changes which will come into effect from May 2024.”
