Press Release

31 October 2022

Have your say on Local Plan modifications

Fareham Borough Council would like to hear the thoughts of Fareham residents on new modifications to the Local Plan.

Fareham's Local Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State and underwent an independent examination by an Inspector. The Inspector has been assessing the soundness and legal compliance of the Plan, taking into consideration both written and verbal representations.

The Inspector has now proposed a list of amendments to the plan, known as the ‘Main Modifications’, and the Council has agreed to launch a new consultation to seek views on these changes. The Inspector is only seeking representations in relation to the main modifications and not on other parts of the Plan.

You can take part in the consultation and view the main modifications and supporting documents in full at: www.fareham.gov.uk/localplanconsultation

The consultation will be available until 12 December 2022 and paper copies can also be obtained during opening hours at the Fareham Borough Council Civic Offices and in local libraries.

Executive Member for Planning and Development Cllr Simon Martin said: “If you have already taken part in a consultation about the Local Plan you may be wondering why we are seeking your views again. Producing a new local plan is a complex and lengthy process and this new consultation gives you a chance to have your say on the changes suggested by the Inspector. I encourage residents and businesses to take part.”
