Flying the flag for Armed Forces Day

Fareham Borough Council has marked this year’s Armed Forces Day by once again raising the Armed Forces Flag outside the Civic Offices in Fareham.

Representing the Armed Forces were Captain Catherine Jordan, Commanding Officer HMS Collingwood, and Able Seaman William Martin. The ceremony was attended by The Mayor of Fareham, Cllr Mike Ford and the Mayoress, Anne Ford, together with the Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward.

Cllr Ford said:

"Raising our Armed Forces flag is an honour, and is particularly poignant this year, having only recently marked 40 years since the end of the Falklands conflict. Ahead of Armed Forces Day this Saturday, 25 June, it is a fitting way of expressing appreciation for everything they have done and continue to do.”
