Local Boundary Review consultation extended

The Local Government Boundary Commission, the independent body that draws up local boundaries, has decided that the number of councillors in Fareham should be 32, instead of the current council which has 31.

A 10-week consultation on new warding arrangements ran until 4 April 2022, but this has now been extended until 11 July 2022 to ensure that The Commission hears what residents and organisations think about what the new warding arrangements should be.

The purpose of this work is to make sure that local councillors represent roughly the same number of electors, and that ward arrangements help the council work effectively, while maintaining community ties and identities. There will be 16 wards under the new arrangements, an increase from the current 15 wards.

The Commission is interested in views such as:

The Commission will use feedback from the consultation to help draw up proposals for new ward boundaries at which point there will be a further round of consultation.

The Commission has a dedicated section on its website where people can give their views: https://www.lgbce.org.uk/all-reviews/south-east/hampshire/fareham.

People can also give their views by e-mail at reviews@lgbce.org.uk, and by post:
