Fareham Borough Council make parking more convenient

Fareham Borough Council is pleased to be introducing a new ‘PayByPhone’ service at all its surface pay and display car parks from 26 July 2021.

The service will be rolled out to 11 car parks within the town centre and will allow visitors to not only pay for their parking via an app on their mobile phone, but also to top up their parking remotely if their visit is going to take longer than expected.

Getting the PayByPhone app could not be easier and should just take a few minutes. Parking machines will display a QR code which visitors can scan using their mobile phones. This will take them directly to their app store where they can register and download the app.

Of course, cash and card payments will still be available at all the car parks as usual.

Executive Member for Health and Public Protection, Cllr Trevor Cartwright said: “We are pleased to introduce this service in a bid to make town centre parking as easy and convenient for visitors as possible. Particularly in the wake of the pandemic, fewer people use and carry cash, so this hands-free option is not only simpler but also more hygienic.”
