Press Release

21 May 2020

Fines issued after two cases of fly tipping in the Borough

Fareham Borough Council has issued two Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN’s) after incidents of fly tipping in Borough.

Council Streetscene officers discovered two separate amounts of waste dumped in the car park at Burridge Recreation Ground on 11 May.

The waste was cardboard and two black sacks.

Following investigation by the Enforcement Team, the Council wrote to two addresses together with an FPN (£80) and supporting photographic evidence.

Both people admitted the offence of fly tipping and one of the fines has since been paid.

Executive Member for Public Protection at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Trevor Cartwright said:

“Fareham is an attractive place to live and work and we want to keep it that way – that’s why we take a zero-tolerance approach to fly tipping. I’m pleased that our officers were able to identify where this waste came from and this matter was dealt with quickly. If residents see cases of fly tipping in the Borough, we ask that they report it to us so that we can take the appropriate action.”

Fly tipping can be reported on the Council’s website here.
