Join in the fun of National Play Day

Children will be able to build dens and make a bird feeder as part of a fun day in the woods for National Play Day in Fareham.

The family friendly event is being held on Wednesday 7 August at Holly Hill Woodland Park from 10am to 2pm, as part of the events nationwide to celebrate the importance of play in children’s lives.

Activities include:

• Den building
• Making your own bird feeder
• Stone decorating
• Music workshop
• Clay pendants
• Animal masks
• Woodland art
• Biscuit decorating

Tickets must be booked in advance and the event is for children aged under 11. Families are invited to bring picnics and children must be supervised at all times.

Tickets cost £2 per child and adults go free. Tickets will be on sale from 1 July at Ferneham Hall box office, online at www.fernehamhall.co.uk  or by calling 01329 231942. A maximum of six children per booking and tickets cannot be purchased on the day.

National Play Day is part of a whole summer of events offered by the Council, all listed in the guide ‘My Amazing Summer’ which is available at libraries, schools and the Civic Offices. It can also be downloaded at www.fareham.gov.uk/summerguide.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Sue Bell, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for children to have fun in the woods with a range of exciting activities on offer for them to enjoy. Families are invited to bring their own picnics and make a day of it.”
